The general election 2019 is coming in the month of October-November, and thus, it is an opportunity to choose the government which is going to run the country for the next five years. However, to vote in an election, it is mandatory to have a voter ID card.

  The Election Commission of India provides online voter registration for Indian citizens over 18 years of age. An Indian citizen can nominate himself as an ordinary voter and fill Form 6 online on the National Voter Service Portal.

  A voter ID, also known as EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card), is a photo identity card issued by the Election Commission of India for voting to all Indian citizens of India. The voter ID card is to work to identify voters, increase efficiency and prevent impersonation and fraud in democratic elections. This card is also commonly known as a voter card, voter card or voter ID card.

  Voter ID is an accepted form of personal identification in India as it is issued by a government body.

The voter ID card contains the following details:

Cardholder's photo of a unique serial number Holding the name of a hologram card holder with the relevant state / national mark, Gender, card holder's birth date, card holder's residential address and the issuing officer's signature (Voter Registration Officer) on the back of the voter ID card.

  Go to https://electoralsearch.in/ to see if you are registered to vote.  If your name appears in the list, you are eligible to vote, otherwise, you must register to vote. For voter registration visit https://www.nvsp.in/

  Step by step of the process of applying for voter ID card:

First of all, you have to visit the website https://www.nvsp.in/

 login / register.

 You have to fill (Form 6).

 After opening the website you will see a new voter ID card (Form 6).

  •  1. In this (Form 6), fill your complete information such as name, address, Aadhaar card number, photo, sign.
  •  2. After this, upload your photo in it.
  •  3. Then choose your state constituency.
  • 4. After filling all the Corect information, click on the submit button.

 After this, you understand that your form has been filled.
  •   1. General voters are required to fill in Form 6 (link for online form).  The form is also for 'first-time voters' and who are voters who have moved to another constituency.
  •   2. NRI voters need to fill Form 6A (link for online form)
  •   3. Fill in Form 8 (link to the online form) for any change in (Name, Photo, Age, EPIC Number, Address, Date of Birth, Age, Relative Name, Relationship Type, Gender).
  •   4. In case of transfer from one place of residence to another within the same constituency, please fill in Form 8A (Link to online form).

  The voter list is constantly updated till the last date of filing nomination by the candidate. This is about 3 weeks before the voting date. The exact voting dates will be available on eci.gov.in after the announcement.

  How to register  voter id card offline:

  1. You can also enroll offline.
 Fill two copies of Form 6.
This form is also available free of charge in the offices of Electoral Registration Officers / Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers.

  2. Application along with copies of relevant documents may be mailed to or sent to the respective Voter Registration Officer / Assistant Voter Registration Officer or to the Booth Level Officer of your constituency.

How to track the status of voter ID card in 2019 ?

  Voter ID applicants can now check the status of their application on the State Election Commission website.  Each Indian state has its own respective Election Commission website.  See the image below as an example.

  To track the status of voter ID:

  Go to the Tracking voter id card official website of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
